Ratio Between Over‐Satellite Electron Content and Plasma Density Measured by Swarm: A Proxy for Topside Scale Height

چکیده
In-situ plasma density (Ne) and Over-Satellite Electron Content (OSEC) measured at Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) are basic parameters for analyzing ionospheric plasma. In this study, we calculate the ratio of OSEC to Ne (OSEC-to-Ne ratio; α) by Swarm in daytime topside, which is analogous traditional slab thickness ionosphere. Dependence α on latitude, local time, season, solar activity generally agrees with known climatology vertical scale height (VSH) topside Hence, can be deemed a proxy VSH. Calibrated Swarm-A Swarm-B data two different altitudes further demonstrate that lower-altitude reasonably estimate higher-altitude Ne. addition, new method proposed effective ion mass from electron/ion temperature Swarm. The estimates broadly consistent recent reports composition. All these results usefulness constraining profiles composition Caveats using given, possible directions future improvement discussed.

Apolipoprotein A-II content of human plasma high density lipoproteins measured by radioimmunoassay.
A double antibody radioimmunoassay for human ApoA-II is reported. ApoA-II isolated from human plasma high density lipoprotein (HDL) by column chromatography migrated as a single band on polyacrylamide disc gel electrophoresis, had the appropriate amino acid composition, and provoked the production of monospecific antisera. (125)I-ApoA-II (iodinated by lactoperoxidase, purified by Sephadex G-75 ...
متن کاملTopside ionospheric vertical electron density profile reconstruction using GPS and ionosonde data: possibilities for South Africa
Successful empirical modeling of the topside ionosphere relies on the availability of good quality measured data. The Alouette, ISIS and Intercosmos-19 satellite missions provided large amounts of topside sounder data, but with limited coverage of relevant geophysical conditions (e.g., geographic location, diurnal, seasonal and solar activity) by each individual mission. Recently, methods for i...

Raman microspectroscopy and quantitative backscattered electron imaging (qBEI) of bone are powerful tools to investigate bone material properties. Both methods provide information on the degree of bone matrix mineralization. However, a head-to-head comparison of these outcomes from identical bone areas has not been performed to date. In femoral midshaft cross sections of three women, 99 regions...
متن کاملCross-Scale Interactions between Electron and Ion Scale Turbulence in a Tokamak Plasma.
Multiscale gyrokinetic turbulence simulations with the real ion-to-electron mass ratio and β value are realized for the first time, where the β value is given by the ratio of plasma pressure to magnetic pressure and characterizes electromagnetic effects on microinstabilities. Numerical analysis at both the electron scale and the ion scale is used to reveal the mechanism of their cross-scale int...
متن کاملInvestigation of the relative bottomside/topside contribution to the total electron content estimates
High-resolution vertical electron density true height profiles from Athens Digisonde are used to calculate the electron content up to the peak of the F2 layer (bottomside electron content) and also the topside electron content up to 1000 km, using the Huang-Reinisch method, to investigate the relative behavior of these two parameters during storm events. It was shown that the topside electron c...
